Effect of precipitated fiber size and content on performance of m-aramid paper
Precipitated fibers with different sizes were prepared by sieving self-made Z precipitated fibers with different mesh si-zes of screens and were mixed with m-aramid short cut fibers in a certain mass ratio to prepare m-aramid paper. The chemical structure, thermal properties and dynamic water filtration performance of self-made Z precipitated fiber were characterized by infrared spectrometry,X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and dynamic water filtration analysis and were compared with those of imported J precipitated fiber. The effects of the size and content of precipitated fibers on the properties of m-aramid paper were studied. The results showed that both Z precipitated fiber and J precipitated fiber had membranous structures, similar chemical structures and comparable dynamic water filtration and thermal properties;the precipita-ted fibers could better adhere to the short cut fibers after sieving with a 30-mesh or 50-mesh screen, and the tensile strength,e-longation at break, tear resistance and breakdown strength of m-aramid paper all reached relatively high values;the tear resist-ance of m-aramid paper gradually decreased with the increase of precipitated fiber content;and the tensile strength, elongation at break and breakdown strength of m-aramid paper presented a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase of pre-cipitated fiber content, and were maximized as 3.0 kN/m,5.50%and 18.7 kV/mm,respectively,when the mass fraction of precipitated fibers was 55%.
