Preparation and structural morphology modulation of PEI hollow fiber membrane
Polyetherimide(PEI)hollow fiber membranes were prepared by dry-jet wet spinning using PEI as membrane materi-al and N-dimethylpyrrolidone(NMP)as solvent. The morphology of PEI hollow fiber membranes was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The effects of NMP content in the core solution, extrusion speed ratio of core solution/spinning solution, air layer height,NMP content of coagulation bath, winding speed, and coagulation bath temperature on the structure of PEI hollow fiber membranes were studied. The results showed that the NMP content in the coagulation bath and winding speed have the most significant impact on the pore structure of PEI hollow fiber membrane, when the NMP volume fraction in the core solution was 90%,the extrusion speed ratio of the core solution/spinning solution was 1.4-2.1,the air layer height was 5 cm,the NMP vol-ume fraction in the coagulation bath was 30%,and the winding speed was 5.87 m/min,a completely sponge like pore structure hollow fiber membrane with an outer diameter lower than 500 μ m can be formed;raising the temperature of the coagulation bath from 5℃to 50℃did not affect the sponge like pore structure of PEI hollow fiber membrane, but increasing the porosity from 65.23%to 71.99%resulted in a decrease in gas separation performance.
