Effect of different welding wires on microstructure and properties of low-alloy steel welding joints
Solid wire and flux-cored wire were used as filler metals respectively, and 12 mm Q345E butt joints were welded by MAG under different process parameters. The effect of different wires on the tensile strength of the joint and weld metal, low temperature impact toughness and micro-hardness of the joint were studied. The re-sults show that the welding joints of flux-cored wire and solid wire are broken from the base material;the tensile strength of the weld metal of flux-cored wire is improved by about 16%compared to the welds of the solid wire;the impact toughness of the weld metal of flux-cored wire is better. The average hardness of the welding seam of flux-cored wire is higher than that of the solid welding wire.
