Since the May Fourth New Culture Movement,Zhang Wentian's recognition of the reality of the old society and the experience and lessons learned from the practical struggle have enabled him to establish a unique early social ideology based on absorbing the positive content of diverse social trans-formation ideas,guided by Marxist theory and in combination with China's reality.Zhang Wentian criticized the old society from the dimensions of social phenomena,social problems and social forms.He has experienced a sharp change in the means of social transformation from"thorough revolution"to"rural transformation"to"non resistance"and then to"social revolution".He drew an ideal blue-print for a"free and bright"new societyAlthough his theoretical conception is still obviously explora-tory and immature,it exertsa far-reaching impact on the germination and deepening of the early social thought of the Communist Party of China.
