Comprehensive Scheme and Simulation Analysis for Power Quality Control Based on STATCOM
A large number of harmonic currents are injected into the grid with the increasing non-linear load in the grid;therefore,it has become a critical issue to find the solution to the harmonic pollution problem.STATCOM (static synchronous compensator),wide in application and mature in technology,can simultaneously achieve reactive power compensation and harmonic currents governance,thus a practical comprehensive scheme for power quality control.This paper analyzes the principle and control strategy of reactive power compensation and harmonic current compensation based on STATCOM,establishes the model for supplying power to the nonlinear loads,and simulates by using PSCAD.Simulation results show that STATCOM can meet the need of reactive power compensation and harmonic currents governance,practical in comprehensive power quality control.
