Insulator is an important component of HV apparatus.But any tiny flaw of insulator after long-time mechanical load may result in fracture and destroy the grid.In order to ensure the safety of equipment,it's essential to conduct non-destructive testing on insulator.This paper introduces the insulator flaw inspection technology and the testing method,and illustrates the ultrasonic testing method applied in field testing.
