Learning for Nothing or Learning for Doing?Research on the Influence of CEO′s Educational Experience on Green Technology Innovation of Energy Enterprises
This paper selects the data of A-share listed companies of energy industries in China's Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchange from 2018 to 2022,and empirically analyzes the influence of CEO's educational experience on green tech-nology innovation of energy enterprises and their boundary mechanism from the three-dimensional perspective of educa-tional level,professional background and overseas study experience.The results show that the CEO is characterized by high educational level,mainly with the background of science and engineering,supplemented by business administration background,and with few overseas study experience.Further research indicates that high level of CEO's education back-gound,business administration background,science and engineering background significantly promote the green technol-ogy innovation of energy enterprises,but the overseas study experience cannot significantly influence green technology in-novation level.In addition,the positive effects of educational level,business administration background,science and engi-neering background exist only in the energy enterprises where the positions of CEO and chairman are separated,indicat-ing that a good internal governance environment is the prerequisite for the role of CEO's educational experience.
