Comprehensive Assessment and Spatial-TemporalVariation Pattern of Environmental Regulation Levels in China's Urban Agglomerations
This paper presents an indicator system that assesses environmental regulation in three aspects:investment intensity in environmental protection equipment and capital, pollution control efficiency, and ec-ological quality. The system measures the level of environmental regulation in 19 urban agglomerations across China in a comprehensive and interconnected manner. The findings indicate that the overall level of environmental regulation in China's urban agglomerations has improved significantly. However, significant spatial variability exists, with the Eastern region exhibiting the best performance, followed by the Western region,Northeastern region, and Central region. To address these disparities,it is essential to adopt differ-entiated regulatory tools and strategies to scientifically improve the weak links of environmental regulation in different urban agglomerations.
