To understand the air radon concentration level of underground shopping malls in Chengdu,a FD216 environmental radon measuring instrument was used to investigate the air radon concentration of 10 underground shopping malls scattered in the urban area of Chengdu, with total of 61 measurement points.Based on measurement results, the annual effective dose of staff and customers was estimated and compared with the previous measurement results. The measurement results showed that the average indoor radon concentration in underground shopping malls was 30.9 Bq/m3,with a standard deviation of 8.87 Bq/m3,distributed within the range of(18.2-53.1)Bq/m3.The results were far below the limit of national standard(400 Bq/m3).The average outdoor radon concentration was 22.0 Bq/m3,which was lower than the indoor average radon concentration. The average annual effective dose of staff was 0.527 mSv,which was lower than the limit of national standard(1 mSv).The annual effective dose of customers was lower than that of staff.Comparing and analyzing the measured values of radon concentration with previous measurements,it was found that the radon concentration in the air of underground shopping malls in Chengdu was at a low level.
