Experiment of largemouth bass cultured in cage in conventional freshwater fish pond
In a conventional freshwater fish pond in Hebei province,a cage was set up for culture of largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides). In April, juvenile largemouth bass of 126~158 g/ind.were stocked at a density of 75 ind./m2 in the cage, and were harvested in October with a yield of 41.44 kg/m2,with an average size of 595 g/ind.and a survival rate of 92%.The feed coefficient was 1.33.The average profit of the cage culture was 294.48 yuan/m2 and the input-output ratio was 1∶1.32.The average yield of conventional freshwater juvenile fish in pond was 11 115 kg/hm2,and the feed coefficient was 1.08.With this mode, the large mouth bass stocked at a large size could be har-vested with profits in the same year.
