To fully tap into the potential of Chinese mitten crab(Eriocheir sinensis)ponds and utilize the space in water bodies, thereby increasing economic benefits per unit area,a mixed cultivation ex-periment was conducted in Chongming,Shanghai, involving different densities of giant freshwater prawn(Macrobrachium rosenbergii)alongside the traditional E.sinensis farming model. The results indicated that, under the condition of stocking 250 kg/hm2 of E.sinensis, the optimal stocking densi-ty for M.rosenbergii was 18 000 ind./hm2.With a selling price of 200 yuan/kg for M.rosenbergii, the total output value was 59 850 yuan/hm2 higher compared to stocking 24 000 ind./hm2.This re-presented an additional 61 950 yuan/hm2 compared to monoculture of E.sinensis.
