Tests for the flexural tensile strength of glass fiber-reinforced polymer(GFRP)stirrups mainly concen-trate on the impact of the ratio of the bending radius to the diameter on the flexural tensile strength of GFRP stir-rups.However,the influence of the tensile strength of the straight portion on the flexural tensile strength of GFRP stirrups has seldom been studied. In this study, three groups(nine specimens in total)with different tensile strengths of the straight portion were examined to investigate the flexural tensile strength of GFRP stirrups using the B.5 test method from ACI 440.3R-12.The tensile strengths of the straight portion were 530 MPa for group A,850 MPa for group B,and 1 100 MPa for group C,and the ratio of the bending radius to the stirrup diameter was 3.The findings revealed that GFRP stirrups ruptured at the bending portion in all specimens. The flexural tensile strengths of the specimens of groups A,B,and C were 325,445,and 530 MPa,respectively. Moreover,a data-base was established with 93 systematically collected specimens in the literature at home and abroad and 9 speci-mens for testing of the flexural tensile strength.A method of calculating the flexural tensile strength of GFRP stir-rups with a guaranteed rate of more than 95%was proposed based on the statistical analysis of the database.
