Design of a marine diesel engine exhaust purification device coupled with seawater desalination
To comprehensively and efficiently achieve waste heat recovery and seawater desalination for ship diesel engines to enhance exhaust gas purification, this study focuses on the Kincaid B&W 6L90 GE marine diesel en-gine.A high-efficiency exhaust gas purification technology integrated with seawater desalination is proposed. The principles of exhaust gas purification technology combined with seawater desalination for marine diesel engines are introduced.Theoretical design calculations for the evaporation and condensation stages of the marine diesel exhaust gas purification system integrated with seawater desalination are conducted. The heat transfer coefficients for the e-vaporation and condensation sections of the flue gas waste heat recovery desalination system were determined to be 42.29 and 1,067.42 W/(m2·℃),with heat transfer areas of 517.31 m2 and 38.26 m2.The overall dimensions of this system are a diameter of Φ6.0 m and a total height of 6.452 m.Additionally, the overall dimensions of the ship exhaust gas purification system are determined to be a diameter of Φ4.0 m and a total height of 9.66 m,there-by finalizing the design calculations and structural layout of the system.
