Effect of the number of swirls on the combustion performance of a tower-type staged low-emission combustor
The number of swirls of the main cyclone is of great significance to the flow field structure and combus-tion characteristics of a combustor. In this paper, the influence of the number of swirls of the main combustion stage on the flow field structure and combustion performance of a combustor is studied numerically. The results show that, for the primary combustion's primary cyclone, the number of swirls between 0.65 and 0.75 in the reflux zone is stable, the combustion efficiency is high, the pressure loss is not very large, and NOx and CO emis-sions are low(the lowest values are 45.4×10-6 and 33.8×10-6,respectively).For the primary combustion's two-stage cyclone, when the number is 0.9,there is a good temperature field, the combustion efficiency is higher than 99.6%,the emission is not high, and NOx and CO emissions have the lowest values of 45.5×10-6 and 36.2×10-6,respectively.
