The effect of flame retardants on the properties of polyurethane reinforcement materials
The effects of five commonly used flame retardants were investigated including total phosphorus flame retardants triethyl phosphate(TEP),dimethyl methylphosphonate(DMMP),and halogenated phosphate flame retardants tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate(TCEP),tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TCPP),and tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TDCP),on the properties of polyurethane reinforcement materials using oxygen index meter, cone calorimeter, and molecular simulation methods. The results show that halogenated phosphate flame retardants can improve the oxygen index and flame resistance of polyurethane reinforcement materials more than all phosphorus flame retardants, while having a smaller impact on the mechanical strength of the materials.
