Corpus-based Study of C-E Translation of Animal Metaphors in Political Discourse
This paper, based on a Chinese-English bilingual political text corpus, studies the C-E translation strategies of animal metaphors and the cognitive interpretation, focusing on the top 15 high-frequency animals. The research reveals two primary approaches:literal translation more commonly applied to metaphors involving tigers, flies, foxes, wolves, camels, sheep, elephants, black swans, and rhinos;and free translation preferred for metaphors relating to dragons, fish, horses, oxen, and geese.
