The Doubt of the Existence of"Human Hearts":A Realistic Interpretation of"Clara and the Sun"
This article interprets the transcendence of traditional realism in Kazuo Ishigu-ro's novel"Clara and the Sun"from both technical and thematic perspectives. At the techni-cal level,it is mainly reflected in the use of complex characterization to reflect the complexity of human nature and the use of impersonal first-person narrative to provoke reflection. At the the-matic level,it is mainly reflected in the deepening of the novel's connotation from criticizing so-cial reality to unveiling the human heart, and from focusing on current social reality to warning of future survival crisis. In transcending realism, the author raises a poignant and realistic query about the existence of"human hearts",warning readers that how to regain the subjectivity and irreplaceability of"human hearts"has become an urgent problem to be solved under the inevi-table historical trend of human-machine coexistence.
