Trauma Writing in the"Tempête"of Le Clézio and a Psychoanalysis Interpretation
Focusing on the dilemma of individual survival in the aftermath of the Second World War,the"Tempête"constructs a mysterious natural space above the Sea of Japan through the frequent use of imagery of the sea and the tempest.By using psychoanalytic theories,this article examines three following themes of war and peace,love and pain,death and life,exploring the recurrence of memory through trauma writing in this work.As a former war correspondent,Kyo bears the dual trauma of his moral crime and the death of his lover.He frequently oscillates between love and pain,intermittently feeling his faint,unbearable energy of life.With the help of June,a mysterious and transcendent object of love,he finally breaks the cursed cycle of fate and achieves the confirmation and liberation of his"self".
