The Evolution and Standardization of the Naming of "Huainanzi"
"Huainanzi"was compiled by Liu An,the King of Huainan in the Western Han Dynasty, who gathered his disciples to synthesize other ideas based on Taoist philosophy.Liu An initially named"Huainanzi"as"Honglie"to showcase his academic achievements and political ideals, also known as"The Book of Liu".Later, due to Liu An's rebellion,Liu Xiang renamed it"Huainan"while studying at school.Through later generations,'Huainanzi'gradually became a common name.Due to its early publication and extensive circulation,"Huainanzi"gradually gave rise to many synonyms, such as"Huainannei","Huainanwai","Huainanshu","Huainanji","Huainanhonglie","Liu Anzi","Interpretation of Huainanhonglie",and so on.The reasons for its homonym can be summarized as changes in the status of the compiler and the book, misinformation, improvement of information, and self-creation by scholars.
