The Urban Development and Social Changes of Harbin in the Early 20th Century
At the beginning of the 20th century,Harbin,a once unknown small fishing village,rapidly developed into a world-renowned international metropolis with the opening of the Middle East Railway and the influx of a large number of migrants.However,influenced by the different planning and governance of their respective jurisdictions by China and Russia,Harbin has formed a dual core urban spatial structure.At the same time,Russian expatriates and immigrants from with China,as the main social groups in Harbin,influenced each other and jointly promoted the urban development and social changes of modern Harbin.
