Talent Cultivation of English Majors in Local Polytechnic Universities Under the Background of New Liberal Arts
The construction of new liberal arts is an important turning point in the development of English majors in Chinese universities,and the cultivation of composite English professionals is an inevitable requirement of the times.The article selects three local science and engineering universities as research objects to analyze the current situation and shortcomings of their English majors in setting training objectives,setting course content,and building teaching staff in the context of the new liberal arts.In response to its shortcomings,the article proposes talent cultivation strategies for English majors in local science and engineering universities,which are to keep up with the pace of new liberal arts construction,rely on the school's characteristic disciplines,and clarify training objectives.Guided by interdisciplinary integration,reform curriculum design,as well as based on the actual situation of our school,we aim to build a team of"English+"teachers to cultivate versatile English professionals for the new era.
