A Study on the Subtitle Translation of the Musical"Les Misérables"from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory
The musical"Les Misérables"is one of the most influential musicals in the world.Based on Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory,this paper analyzes the specific translation methods and skills used in the subtitle translation of the official video of this musical and explores how to make the target language audience have the same experience as the source language audience under different cultural backgrounds and languages,so as to better achieve cultural exchange.
