The Artistic and Aesthetic Characteristics of the"New Gods"Series of Animations
The"New Gods"series of animations,represented by works such as"New Gods:Yang Jian","New Gods:Nezha Reborn"and"New Gods:Jiang Ziya"draws on pre-modern Chinese mythology centered on the theme of the"Investiture of the Gods".It incorporates postmodern artistic techniques such as parody and deconstruction,modernizing pre-modern myths,divine images,and celestial realms into a hybrid format that blends pre-modern,modern,and postmodern cultural elements.Meanwhile,supported by modern digital technologies such as CG animation production,particle ink wash techniques,VR/AR technology,and computer graphics,the presentation and reception of traditional mythological animated films have undergone a revolution,providing audiences with a refreshing aesthetic experience and sensation.This phenomenon of cultural blending aligns with the current unique social forms and historical development characteristics of our country and satisfies the aesthetic psychology and needs of contemporary young audiences,which is a key factor in the success of the"New Gods"series of animations.
