Creative Rewriting of Local Literature Works Through Translation Strategies——A Case Study of Goldblatt's Translation of"Sandalwood Death"
Goldblatt's translation of"Sandalwood Death"demonstrates the re-creation and rewriting of Chinese local literature and becomes a successful model for overseas translation and dissemination.Taking this as an example,we can explore Goldblatt's dynamic approach to translating the original.Research has found that Goldblatt's has successfully rewritten words laden with cultural connotations.However,there are also intentional and unintentional mistranslations.The former has,to some extent,promoted the dissemination of Chinese rural literature,while the latter poses a challenge in balancing fidelity and creativity in the translation process.How to strike a balance between the two in translation is an important issue that requires further research and exploration.
