Decisions and Freedom:The Emergence of Free Will Under New Forms of Labor Alienation
With the development of digital technology, capitalism has delayed its collapse and demise, and its presence not only confirms Marx's theory of alienated labor but also gives rise to a reality where individuals are alienated from themselves. Thus, the new forms of labor alienation, cloaked in the guise of freedom, encompass the specific connotation of self-spiritual alienation, leading to two major real dilemmas:the interchange of positions between humans and machines, and the deepening crisis of subjectivity. These real dilemmas determine the activities people are about to undertake while also stimulating their pursuit of free will.In contemporary society, free will is manifested on one hand through reflective living, which facilitates observation of the world and an attitude of"letting things be"towards the existence of others;on the other hand,it is expressed through a closeness and gathering around surrounding entities, establishing a new space of meaning, ensuring the openness and vitality of life, and"poetically dwelling"in the world to seek other possibilities.
