Rorty's Inheritance of Davidson's Metaphorical Thought
In the study of language philosophy in the 20th century, metaphor plays a crucial role.Davidson's theory of metaphor is unique, and Rorty's academic insights on metaphor often come from Davidson and are often used as a basis for philosophical research.Susan Huck and Anthony Reynolds, two scholars, have expressed varying degrees of skepticism about whether Rorty inherits Davidson's metaphorical view. The former believes that Rorty's inheritance of Davidson's metaphorical view stems from Davidson's own mistake, and Rorty did not fully discover this mistake; The latter believes that Rorty did not correctly understand Davidson's viewpoint and points out the differences in the two philosophers'views on metaphor.Scholars'different interpretations of Rorty's metaphorical view cannot deny its important role in his neo-pragmatism.
