A Study of Zhou Zuoren's Ideas on Children's Literature Translation
The framework of children's literature translation thoughts aims to address the psychological differences between adult translators and child readers. The subject of children's literature translation is adults, while the recipients are children, which is precisely where the contradiction lies. There are qualitative differences between children's psychology and adult psychology, and Zhou Zuoren was a pioneer in focusing on the particularities of children's psychology. This article employs Citespace,WordSmith, and MAT tools to conduct a descriptive comparative study of translated text corpora. It finds that compared to the control group translations,Zhou Zuoren's translations emphasize colloquial language, simplicity, and exaggerated expression;he opposes didactic moral teachings and advocates for pure children's literature that is playful, concrete, and imaginative.Children's literature belongs both to children and to literature, and thus children's literature translation should consider both aspects.Zhou Zuoren's method is a faithful and comprehensive literal translation that emphasizes the correctness and authenticity of the source text to achieve a recreation of the source text's style.
