Analysis of influencing factors of common chronic diseases in the elderly received integrated community home medical and nursing care services
Aim:To analyze influencing factors of common chronic diseases in the elderly in China, and to provide a basis for formulating prevention and treatment strategies. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among the elderly(≥60 years)who received integrated community home medical and nursing care services in 3 demonstration application bases for the integration of medical and nursing care services in Guangzhou,Suzhou, and Qingdao.General demographic in-formation,living habits, and chronic disease status were collected. The comorbidity patterns of chronic diseases with high prevalence rates were explored. The ordered Logistic regression analysis was employed to analyze the influencing factors of chronic disease comorbidity. Results:A total of 1 310 elderly individuals were included in the study. The prevalence rates of chronicdiseasesandcomorbidityamongtheelderly were81.76%and52.29%,respectively.The top3 diseases with the highest prevalence rates were hypertension, diabetes, and lumbar disc herniation. The common binary comorbidity patterns were hypertension+diabetes, hypertension+lumbar disc herniation, and hypertension+stroke, and the common ternary co-morbidity patterns were hypertension+diabetes+stroke, hypertension+diabetes+lumbar disc herniation, and hypertension+diabetes+rheumatoid arthritis.Younger age(60-<70 years)(OR=0.563,95%CI:0.354-0.896),higher frequency of going out(daily)(OR=0.395,95%CI:0.294-0.531),and higher frequency of children visiting(once a week)(OR=0.709,95%CI:0.546-0.920)were protective factors for chronic disease comorbidity among the elderly, while non-drink-ing was a risk factor(OR=1.294,95%CI:1.014-1.651).Conclusion:The prevalence rates of chronic diseases and co-morbidity among the elderly receiving integrated community home medical and nursing care services are relatively high, and comorbidity of chronic diseases is common. It is recommended to strengthen the management of chronic diseases comorbidi-ties among the elderly residents in the community by considering the influencing factors of chronic disease comorbidities.
