Influencing factors of arm-ankle pulse wave conduction velocity in obese children
Aim:To explore alterations in arm-ankle pulse wave conduction velocity(baPWV)in obese children and analyze its influencing factors. Methods:A total of 94 obese children and 57 physically examined healthy children who at-tended the Department of Endocrinology and Genetic Metabolism and the Department of Child Health of Children's Hospital of Soochow University, respectively from June 2021 to October 2022 were selected. The differences in BMI,gender, age, blood uric acid, blood lipids, fasting glucose and insulin, carotid intima-media thickness(cIMT),baPWV,Z-score of BMI(Z-BMI),systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),homeostasis model of insulin resistance index(HO-MA-IR)were compared between the 2 groups. The differences in baPWV between hypertensive and normotensive, pubertal and prepubertal groups in obese children were compared.Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing fac-tors of baPWV.Results:BaPWV was slower in obese children than in healthy children(P=0.036).Inobese children,baP-WV was faster in the hypertensive group than that in the normotensive group, and faster in the pubertal group than in the prepubertal group(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that DBP and HOMA-IR were influencing factors for baPWV in obese children, with B(95%CI)of 10.959(4.745-17.173)and 3.416(0.771-6.061).Conclusion:BaPWV in obese children is associated with blood pressure,HOMA-IR,and puberty.
