MRI manifestations of adult-onset neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease
Aim:To investigate the typical MRI manifestations of adult-onset neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease(NIID).Methods:Brain MRI data of 10 patients with clinical diagnosis of NIID were analyzed retrospectively, and the lo-cation,morphology,and signal characteristic of lesions were observed. Results:Ten patients with NIID showed multiple fused leukodystrophy with symmetrical distribution, mostly distributed in the subcortex and periventricular white matter,9 patients showed curvilinear high-intensity signal along the corticomedullary junction on DWI.Moreover,in 10 patients,4 pa-tients involved the corpus callosum,5 patients involved the external capsule,2 patients involved the paravermal area, and 1 patient involved the middle cerebellar peduncle;8 patients showed cerebral atrophy. Conclusion:The imaging findings of a-dult-onset NIID patients have certain features, especially the symmetrical distribution of leukodystrophy in the subcortex and periventricular area, and the curvilinear high-intensity signal along the corticomedullary junction on DWI,which are helpful for the diagnosis of NIID.
