Efficacy of steel plate internal fixation and external frame fixation in the treatment of children Bado Ⅰ neglected Monteggia fracture
Aim:To compare the efficacy of steel plate internal fixation and external frame fixation after ulnar osteotomy for children with Bado Ⅰ neglected Monteggia fracture. Methods:Data of the children with Bado Ⅰ neglected Monteggia fracture treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from June 2015 to December 2022 were analyzed. All children underwent annular ligament exploration combined with ulnar osteotomy,24 cases received steel plate internal fixa-tion,and 14 cases received external frame fixation.Elbow and forearm motion, and elbow joint Mayo function score were de-tected before and 12 months after operation, and postoperative complications were recorded. Results:The motion of elbow and forearm, and elbow joint Mayo function score after operation in both groups were higher than before operation(P<0.05).However,the differences of them between preoperation and postoperation between the 2 groups had no significant differences(P>0.05).The operation time and blood loss of the internal fixation group were higher than those of the exter-nal fixation group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the rate of redislocation of humeral-radial joint,inci-sion infection rate,or poor healing rate of ulna between the 2 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Both steel plate internal fixa-tion and external fixation after ulna osteotomy are effective for children Bado Ⅰ neglected Monteggia fracture.
