Analysis of prevalence and influencing factors of myopia among primary school students in Zhengzhou in 2023
Aim:To investigate the status and influencing factors of myopia among primary school students in Zheng-zhou in 2023,and provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of myopia.Methods:From March to June 2023,a total of 30 662 primary school students from grades 1 to 5 in 18 schools located in Zhengzhou were selected using a random stratified cluster sampling method and surveyed.Logistic regression analysis was applied to analyze the influencing factors of myopia.Results:In Zhengzhou in 2023,the prevalence of myopia among primary school students was 44.56%.Mild,mod-erate,and severe myopia accounted for 34.14%,9.50%and 0.92%,respectively.Compared with boys,girls had a higher risk of myopia[OR(95%CI)]was 1.274(1.213-1.339)],and the risk increased with grade level[OR(95%CI)was 1.528(1.502-1.555)].Students who spent at least 60 minutes per day using their eyes,those who spent less than 2 hours per day exercising,those who slept for less than 9 hours per day,and those who had a dietary bias were also at a higher risk of myopia[OR(95%CI)was 3.579(3.264-3.923),2.163(1.984-2.358),1.832(1.669-2.012),and 1.262(1.143-1.392)].Conclusion:The prevalence of myopia is high among primary school students in Zhengzhou.More attention should be paid to girls,senior students,students with long eye time,short exercise time,insufficient sleep and dietary bias.
