Initial genetic mapping of a tassel seed gene Ts9 in maize
From a Mutator inserted M2 segregating population constructed by a cross between Mu9 and Yu 82,a tassel seed mutant was isolated, which shows that the pistil in male flowers on the tassel is not degraded. This makes stamen development restrained and leads to a transformation of tassel florets from stamination to pistillation. The genetic analysis indicated that the mutant trait was controlled by a single dominant gene, designated as Ts9 (tassel seed 9).In addition,by using SSR markers and BC1 segregating population derived from the cross between the maize inbreds B 73 and the mutant, the Ts9 gene was mapped between umc2047 and umc1431,with the genetic distance of 4.2 cM and 0.8 cM at 1.09 bin of chromosome 1.
