Intraspecific and interspecific competition of Pinus massoniana and Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forest
In this study,we investigated the intraspecific and interspecific competition of Pinus massoniana and Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forest, using competition area method and HEGYI individual competitive indices (CI) model. The competition intensity was analysed from the 124 target trees and 473 competitive trees within the mixed forest. The results showed that the number of Class Ⅳ and Class Ⅴ of Pinus massoniana was larger and took up great proportion;Class Ⅰ accounted for a small number. The Pinus massoniana mixed artificial forests in this locality for the most part are young forest and mature forest. The intraspecific and interspecific competition intensity of subjective tree Pinus massoniana decreased with the increasing in diameter and the interspecific competition intensity was more intensive than intraspecific competition intensity. The relationship between the whole forest competition intensity and DBH of the target tree followed the power function (CI =AD-B).The competition intensity appeared weaker, when DBH of objective tree was ≥20cm.In conclusion, this model could effectively predict the intraspecific and interspecific competition of Pinus massoniana and Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forests.
