The Impact of the Jiping Main Canal Project on Pingyin County
Jiping main canal project constitutes an important part of the initial phase of the East Route within the South-to-North Water Diversion Project,serving as the the first section of the T-shaped water transfer main line connecting Shandong and Jiaodong.The construction of the Jiping main canal project started in Pingyin County on December 27th,2002.The main project was completed and successfully put into use by the end of December 2005.In October 2010,the project was completed and accepted.It is the first single project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project to start construction,complete acceptance and bring benefits.Since its completion,a total of 4.542248 million m3 of water has been transferred,playing a significant role in optimizing the allocation of water resources,flood control and reduction,as well as improving the ecological environment in Shandong Province.The paper provides a concise analysis of the positive and negative impacts of the Jiping Main Canal on Pingyin County,along with proposing recommendations for future project operation and management,aiming to facilitate subsequent operation and management of Jiping Main Canal.
