Study on the Necessity of Storm Water Resources Utilization in Yiluo River under the Trend of Water Scarcity in Yellow River Basin
The Yiluo River, one of the ten major tributaries of the Yellow River, covers an area of 18,881 km2.It is the largest tributary below the Sanmenxia Reservoir on the Yellow River and also the primary tributary with the most abundant water flow and least sediment concentration below Tongguan in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. With an average annual runoff of 3.485 billion m3,it plays a significant role in replenishing the water of the Yellow River. However, the precipitation in the basin mainly concentrates in the summer season, characterized by uneven spatial and temporal distribution, and great seasonal and inter-annual variations,as a result the storm flood resources could not be be intercepted and utilized in many cases, sometimes even leading to flash flood disasters. The water resources in the Yellow River Basin is insufficient as a whole, and the Yiluo River Basin also faces increasing water resources stress due to the needs of industrial and agricultural production and social development. How to properly regulate and utilize the water resources within the basin is a question addressed in this paper, which proposes some ideas and suggestions for engineering construction.
