Research on Internal Flow and Energy Loss Characteristics of Large Two-way Horizontal Pumping Station
This study focuses on a specific large two-way horizontal pumping station, conducting numerical simulations to investigate the internal flow and energy loss characteristics. The calculation results show that:the presence of the saddle type zone leads to the occurrence of adverse flow phenomena such as reflux, separation of flow, and vortex formation within the pump assembly;the axial force on the symmetrical S-shaped impeller exhibits a clear linear relationship with flow rate, while the radial force lacks a discernible pattern;additionally, the residual swirl at the guide vane outlet and the significant reflux phenomenon at the outlet section of the outlet channel contribute to the predominant distribution of high turbulent kinetic energy zones at the inlet and outlet sections of the outlet channel. Moreover, the highest energy losses occur within the impeller, particularly within the saddle type zone, reaching up to 22.58 m,and the lowest energy losses within the outlet channel. These research findings provide valuable insights for the design and upgrading of pump stations.
