New Understanding of Agricultural Water Conservation in Hetao Irrigation District of Inner Mongolia
As a large irrigation area in the upper reaches of the Yellow River,Hetao Irrigation District is highly dependent on the Yellow River.In order to explore a new route of high-quality agricultural development under the rigid constraints of water resources,this paper summarizes the development history of agricultural water-saving irrigation over the years in Hetao Irrigation District.The paper,in the mean time,objectively evaluates the effectiveness and existing problems of water-saving irrigation in the irrigation district.It is pointed out that by means of enhancing scientific management of the autumn irrigation,formulating water-saving control measures in the irrigation district,optimizing the scheme for jointly regulation of surface water and groundwater,enhancing the construction of irrigation canals and field ditches system,promotion of modern water-saving technologies in agriculture production,improving the comprehensive quality of agricultural practitioners,further reform of water prices,and breeding new varieties of drought-tolerant crops,the regional water security and ecological safety could be ensured,and the high quality development of agriculture in the irrigation district could be realized.
