Based on the existing research on viscous dampers and metal dampers, taking the actual reinforce-ment project of an inpatient and outpatient building in Anhui Province as the research object, this paper puts forward three reinforcement schemes, namely separate arrangement of viscous dampers, separate arrangement of metal dampers and mixed arrangement of viscous and metal dampers. The dynamic time history analysis of each scheme under frequent and rare earthquakes is carried out,and the parameters such as inter-story dis-placement and maximum acceleration before and after damping are integrated, exploring the advantages and disadvantages of the damping performance of viscous damper and metal damper working together. Finally, based on the cooperative work scheme, the energy dissipation after reinforcement and the hysteretic curve of damper are further analyzed to explore its specific damping effect in practical engineering. The results show that when the two dampers are applied to the reinforcement engineering at the same time, the reasonable mixed arrangement scheme can significantly improve the seismic mitigation effect of the structure, and can make full use of the energy dissipation characteristics of the two dampers to achieve phased energy dissipation, with excellent energy dissipation performance.
