Lightweight-based life cycle assessment of cast aluminum engine hood
In order to achieve automotive lightweight and verify the energy saving and emission reduc-tion effect of investment casting products,this paper conducted a life cycle assessment of the engine hood.Based on the investment casting process,a hood that meets the requirements of stiffness and modal performance was designed,a hood full life cycle assessment model was established to track the life cycle energy consumption and greenhouse gases(GHG)emissions,and the sensitivity analysis was performed.The results show that the integrated design reduces the mass of the cast aluminum hood by 17.87%,the life cycle energy consumption by 10.18%,and the GHG emissions by 7.12%.The life cycle assessment results show that the cast aluminum hood meets the energy saving and emission reduction requirements,providing a theoretical basis for the green and low-carbon design of the vehi-cle.
