Experimental study on local scour of bridge pier under retaining ring and gabion structures
Local scour of bridge pier foundation is the main factor that causes flood damage of bridge crossing river, and the protection of potential scour area is the main measure to reduce the scour damage of the founda-tion.In this paper,by selecting the rectangular piers and the double-row cylindrical piers, combined with the active and passive protection mechanism of the retaining ring and gabion protection structures, considering the protection range and flow velocity factors, the pier foundation local scour test was carried out.By means of range analysis and correlation analysis, the local scour evolution process and anti-scour protection performance of the foundation combined with pier type and protective measures were studied in depth. The relationship be-tween the protection effect and different influencing factors was explored. The results show that the influence degree of external diameter factors on the protection effect is greater than that of measures;when protecting the rectangular piers, the retaining ring structure is preferred at low flow velocity, and both can be used at medium and high flow velocity;when protecting the double-row cylindrical piers, the gabion structure is pre-ferred;in the calculation of local scour depth of rectangular pier and double-row cylindrical pier under the pro-tection of retaining ring or gabion structure, the relationship between the base correction coefficient KD and the protection ratio Dp/D is more in line with the quadratic function.
