On Evaluation of Urban Competitiveness in Anhui Province Based on Principal Component Analysis
Urban competitiveness is a comprehensive reflection of regional development capabilities.Research on the evaluation of urban competitiveness is of great significance for scientifically exploring the laws of urban development and construction.The article takes 16 cities in Anhui Province as sam-ples,constructs an evaluation index system for competitiveness in Anhui Province,and conducts em-pirical principal component analysis to obtain the ranking of urban competitiveness in Anhui Prov-ince.The results show that the cities with large differences and strong competitiveness are all mem-bers of Hefei metropolitan area;some cities with strong unconventional economies have strong develop-ment potential,while investment in science technology and education can enhance competitiveness;some cities bordering Jiangsu and Zhejiang have strong soft and hard power,and resource-based cities have good cultural and infrastructure.Suggestions are put:strengthening regional coordinated develop-ment and interactive cooperation;enhancing the strength of science and technology education,and ex-panding external exchanges and opening up;deeply cultivating the Yangtze River Delta and enhanc-ing urban livability.
