Functional Safety Assessment Method for Safety Instrumented System on Offshore Platforms
Offshore oil and gas production platform is an important facility for offshore oil exploitation and production, which has the risk characteristics of complex process system, compact equipment layout, and difficult emergency rescue.Safety instrumented systems are often configured on offshore platforms due to the high risks.According to standards such as IEC61511,it is necessary to conduct a functional safety assessment of the safety instrumented system,in order to maintain the normal functioning of the safety instrumented system. The protective layer analysis(LOPA)for SIL determination and Markov model for SIL verification are introduced in this paper.Functional safety assessment method are applied to typical scenarios of offshore platforms, the SIF of pressure high high interlock on submarine pipeline. The evaluation results show that the configuration of this SIF can meet the predetermined functional safety requirements.
