In the critical period when China is moving towards the forefront of innovation-oriented countries and under the background of the major of materials science and engineering of Chongqing Jiaotong University has successfully passed the engineering education accreditation,it is our responsibility and mission to cultivate undergraduate in material major with outstanding innovation ability.This paper analyzes the problems existing in the process of cultivating innovative ability of undergraduates in material major in our university from the perspectives of undergraduate tutorial system,materials laboratory,academic competition and project,and puts forward solutions.
