Corrosion Assessment and Reconstruction Methods for Offshore Crude Oil Storage Tanks
The large crude oil storage tank on Chengbei B platform was designed and builted in the 1980s.The design specification adopts the API 650(7th rersion).The material is SS41 of standard JIS G 3101-1976,and the original design life is 15 years.Because some area corrosion depth of the tank wall exceeds the corrosion allowance,it need to evaluate the safety status after corrosion through comparison of the versions of the design and manufacture codes,the national and domestic standards,and calculate the tank strength.A new reconstruction method of gate cutting and block by block replacement was adopted,and control the overall deformation of welding to complete the defect modification and extended its service life.
