Effect of Temperature on the Preparation of Cobalt Tetroxide
Temperature is an important control factor in the production of cobalt tetroxide, and instability can lead to large fluctuations in the powder index.Spherical cobalt carbonate was synthesized by two temperature processes, and its growth mechanism was analyzed by XRD and TEM.Different dominant growth surfaces were presented at different temperatures, polycrystalline structure at high temperature, and single crystal at low temperature. The surface particles of cobalt carbonate at high temperature were rod-like,and fine particles were stacked at low temperature.Spherical cobaltous tetroxide was prepared from spherical cobalt carbonate synthesized at low temperature by calcination at high temperature. The changes of thermal properties, particle size and phase at different temperatures and heating rates were systematically studied. The growth rule and decomposition principle of cobalt carbonate under different temperature conditions and heating rate were revealed through these experiments.
