Application of Carbon Isotope Logging Technology in Carbon Dioxide Sequestration
To monitor the status of carbon dioxide geological sequestration and evaluate its effectiveness, hydrocarbon and carbon dioxide content,as well as carbon isotope measurements, are conducted in various formations during the drilling process. The results indicate that the vertical variation of carbon isotopes in drilling mud gas correlates with the division of reservoir-cap rock assemblage in oil and gas reservoir, which can provide a basis for evaluating the sealing integrity of carbon dioxide sequestration traps. After carbon dioxide sequestration, the sealing integrity of cap rock and the monitoring of carbon dioxide sequestration state can be conducted.
