Construction of"Four-step Mechanism"for Safe Use of Flammable Liquids in Organic Chemistry Laboratories
In recent years, some fire accidents caused by improper use of flammable liquids have occasionally occurred in chemical laboratories of colleges and universities, which have brought great threat to the lives and property of teachers and students. Therefore,it is necessary to instruct students how to use flammable liquids safely in chemical safety education classes.According to the physical and chemical properties of flammable liquids, the nature of combustion and the emergency measures that can be taken in a fire accident, this paper puts forward a four-step mechanism for the safe use of flammable liquids based on the laboratory safety RAMP principle:identifying flammable liquid hazards, assessing flammable liquid risks, minimizing the risk of flammable liquid fire accidents, and preparing for emergency situations. It provides a new idea for organic chemistry experiment teachers to guide students to establish knowledge system of safe use of flammable liquids.
