As more Chinese oil companies invest in overseas oil and gas exploration and production,the drilling and completion of wells,being high-risk operations,necessitate effective HSSE(health,safety,security,and environmental)management of contractors by oil companies under foreign conditions.This ensures the high-quality development of the company and establishes a positive international image for Chinese enterprises.Based on the ten-plus years of experience of a Chinese enterprise in Iraq regarding the HSSE management of drilling and completion contractors,this paper discusses common issues in HSSE management through five aspects:contract HSSE requirements and bridging documents,management of leased contractor rigs,high-risk well control management,health and safety management,and social public safety management.It also provides strategies to address these issues,offering insights for HSSE management in similar overseas projects.
