Geological characteristics and genesis of the Maixi bauxite deposit in Central Guizhou Province
Maixi Bauxite Mine is located in the Xiuwen-Qingzhen mining area within the Yangtze block in central Guizhou. The folds and fault structures are developed in the mining area, and the bauxite deposits occur in the aluminum-bearing rock series of the Jiujialu formation in the Lower Carboniferous, rich in resources and reserves in the mining areas. This article systematically studies the sources of ore-forming compentents, geological characteristics, and genesis of ore deposits in the mining areas by the methods such as petrology, mineralogy, and geochemistry. The results indicate that the ore-forming compentents in the mining areas may come from the underlying carbonate rocks of the Loushanguan formation of the Cambrian, and have undergone a multi-stage and complex mineralization process:"Weathering leads to initial enrichment--Colloidal action leads to the polymerization---Desilication leads to enrichment--The transformation effect of weathering and leaching leads to mineralization".This study is based on the diversified exploration indicators of"ore outcrop--ore bearing strata--structure",and it is speculated that the eastern and northern periphery of the mining area can be the next exploration prospect.
